Dimensions (inches):
  Width:   4-3/8&
  Height:   9-1/4&
  Depth:   n/a
Materials:   Wild Cherry

This vase was first turned and hollowed to a 3/16th" wall thickness from a piece of wild cherry.

The design of the Datura meteloides  was drawn free-hand, incised with a woodburner using a small skew tip,  and painted with watercolors.

The stippled background was accomplished using pyrographic techniques.

The design flows onto the bottom of the vase. Three coats of Deft-lacquer finish were applied.

Judges Comments
Clay : The round volume of the vessel gets an added dimension to the painting.
Jacques : nice painting... form could show more volume and is a bit straight sided. More volume helps compliment the floral forms. Great texture and color.
John : An attractive piece. I think there's not enough painting being done. Keep it up.
