Vase was turned on a lathe. Grid drawn on the surface. The "black diamonds" were recessed into the surface by power carving.  The bottom surface of all "black diamonds" was stipled by power carving.  White and black acrylic paints were applied and then a finish was applied.

Judges Comments
Clay : The shape of the vessel is terrific, and really shows off the pattern, but precise geometric patterns requires precise execution.
Jacques : GREAT form! Good lines and shows wonderful volume! Texture is a bit coarse for the elegance of the form.... Good proportions and a nice small foot, Yeah!
John : The piece seems nicely done, but the decoration lacks the finesse of it's source of inspiration.
